Gislason & Hunter LLP Announces 2011 Christmas Giving

Gislason & Hunter LLP is pleased to announce the 2011 recipients of the annual Christmas donations to be made to various charities.  Attorneys and employees at each of the Gislason & Hunter office sites choose the charities they wanted the firm to assist with a donation.

The 2011 charities identified by the New Ulm office are Kids against Hunger and the local food shelf.  On December 14, members of the firm volunteered to package food at the Kids against Hunger site and make a donation of $1000.  Gislason & Hunter attorney Dan Gislason and his wife Nancy matched the $1000 donation with a personal contribution.  The local food shelf received $1000 as well.

Toys for Tots and Second Harvest Food Shelf are the choice for the Minneapolis Office.  The staff conducted a toy drive for Toys for Tots and the firm purchased an additional $500 in toys for the program.  In October the staff conducted a food drive for Second Harvest Food Shelf and as part of the Christmas giving a cash donation of $1500 was made.

In Mankato, the local food shelf and the Back Pack for Kids program each received $1000.  The Back Pack for Kids program is a new initiative that is a partnership between area schools and businesses.  Many children from challenged families receive their best meal of the day at school.  The Back Pack program provides a confidential supply of food to children to assist them through the weekend. The Mankato office also donated to the local food shelf.

The Des Moines office has become very involved in YESS, Youth Emergency Services and Shelter.  The organization provides food, shelter and guidance to challenged youth in the Des Moines area.  In addition to the firm’s $2000 donation, the Des Moines office members purchased gifts and made cash donations for YESS.
