Gislason & Hunter LLP announces new partner for New Ulm office 

NEW ULM, Minn. (March 5, 2008) — Regional corporate transaction and litigation firm Gislason & Hunter LLP announced today that Justin P. Weinberg has joined the firm's partnership. Weinberg offices primarily out of the firm's New Ulm, Minn. location.

Weinberg has been with the firm since 2005 and focuses his practice in the areas of Construction Law and Litigation and Commercial and Civil Litigation. As a litigator, Weinberg has represented clients in state and federal district court, state and federal appellate court and arbitration. He is a member of the American and Minnesota Bar Associations (Litigation, Construction Law and Business sections). He is also a member of the Builders Association of Minnesota's legal team.

Weinberg received his Juris Doctorate from William Mitchell College of Law in 2001. He is admitted to Minnesota and Wisconsin State Courts, the U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota, and the U.S. Court of Appeals, 8th Circuit.

Weinberg has been selected as a 'Rising Star' by Minnesota's Law & Politics from 2006 to 2008.

Gislason & Hunter LLP Hires Two New Associates 

NEW ULM, Minn. (February 21, 2008) - Regional law firm Gislason & Hunter LLP has hired two new associates for two of the firm's Minnesota offices. Meghan M. Gaspar joined the Minneapolis office to work in the firm's Medical Malpractice Defense, Insurance Defense and Civil Litigation Practice Areas. Charles W. Hanson joins the Civil Litigation, Real Estate and Agricultural Law Practice Areas in the firm's New Ulm office.

Gaspar received her Juris Doctorate from Hamline University School of Law in 2007 and a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Minnesota in 2002. Her prior work experience, with a focus on healthcare, includes an internship at Medtronic, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota and nursing at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. Gaspar is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association, Hennepin County Bar Associations, Minnesota Women Lawyers, and The American Association of Nurse Attorneys.

Hanson graduated from William Mitchell College of Law in 2007 with a Juris Doctorate and Minnesota State University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science, cum laude. Prior to joining Gislason & Hunter, Hanson worked at the Blue Earth County District Court for Judge Kurt D. Johnson and at another New Ulm, Minn. law firm. He also served six years in the United States Air Force. Hanson is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association and the Sixth District Bar Association.

Attorney David C. Kim to be featured in upcoming practicum on the South Korea - US Free Trade Agreement

Wade R. Wacholz taught a Minnesota CLE titled "Effective Uses of LLC's" at the Minnesota CLE Conference Center, Minneapolis on October 15, 2007.

Loree A. Nelson (Des Moines office) presented a National Business Institute seminar titled "Handling Medical Negligence Claims" in Des Moines on November 16, 2007 and a Midwest Medical Insurance Company group symposium titled "Update on Legislative & Malpractice Liability" on November 1, 2007. 

Attorney Cory Genelin guest expert at South Central College

Attorney Cory Genelin (Mankato office) was a guest panel expert at South Central College, Faribault, on Monday, September 17, 2007, as part of the college's celebration of Constitution Day. Constitution Day is the anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution into American history. This year was the 220th anniversary of the signing.

Dan Gislason receives Pro Bono Award

NEW ULM, Minn. (June 29, 2007) - Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services (SMRLS), a local legal aid program that provides legal assistance to the poor with civil legal problems, selected attorney Dan Gislason as the 2007 recipient o the Fifth Judicial District Pro Bono Award. SMRLS honored him at a reception on June 29 at the Brown County Courthouse. The award is sponsored by the Minnesota State Bar Association.

Gislason has been instrumental in the success of SMRLS' "Do it Yourself" divorce clinics in south central Minnesota. In addition to volunteering his time at the clinics, Gislason has been an active mentor to law students assisting at the clinics.

Gislason is also a volunteer who handles contested family law cases. He has been spearheading SMRLS efforts to make Mediation and Early Neutral Evaluation (ENE) available to SMRLS' low-income clients through additional funding and the use of volunteers. He also serves as a volunteer mediator.

For years, he has helped raise money to fund SMRLS services. Most recently he took on the responsibility for SMRLS' Campaign for Legal Aid solicitations in Brown County.

Gislason has practiced in New Ulm for more than 35 years. He is a senior attorney at Gislason & Hunter, LLP. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Minnesota in 1969. He is admitted to the Minnesota State Courts, the U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota, and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eighth Circuit.

Daniel A. Gislason Receives 2007 Advocate Award - April 2007

The Civil Litigation Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association has named Dan Gislason the recipient of the "2007 Advocate Award." Dan will be honored at the Section's annual meeting on Wednesday, April 18, 2007.


Gislason & Hunter Adds a Second New Associate in Mankato - February 8, 2007

Gislason & Hunter LLP is pleased to announce that Cory A. Genelin has joined the firm as an associate attorney.  Mr. Genelin will be working in the firm's Mankato office, which serves clients throughout southern Minnesota and northern Iowa.  He is a 2006 graduate of William Mitchell College of Law and has spent over a year serving as Law Clerk to the Honorable Kurt D. Johnson in Mankato. 

A native resident of Le Sueur, Minnesota, Cory understands the needs of growing communities, small businesses, agriculture, and rural life.  He is also a decorated combat veteran of the United States Air Force and brings proven leadership and calm confidence to the practice of law.  In joining Gislason & Hunter, Cory will expand the capabilities and resources of its regional law practice to further benefit local clients.
