Jeff Braegelmann is a partner with Gislason & Hunter where he focuses his practice on complex financing and commercial lending transactions, development of new businesses, restructuring of existing businesses, asset purchases and sales and commercial litigation.
Another significant focus of Jeff’s practice is drainage law and water disputes. He has guided clients through issues regarding public and private drainage projects and water resource management. He has broad experience working through water issues and litigation.
Jeff is a frequent writer and speaker in the areas of commercial law, secured transactions, agriculture law and agricultural lending. When he is not practicing law, Jeff enjoys performing and listening to music, reading and hunting.

Commercial and Agricultural Loan and Collection Actions
Jeff Braegelmann is the chair of the Gislason & Hunter Banking Practice Group and has assisted lenders in the collection of secured and unsecured commercial and agricultural debts. His experience spans the collection process and includes Farmer Lender Mediation, pre-litigation case assessments, foreclosures by action and advertisement, replevins and other prejudgment motions, collection of judgments and bankruptcy proceedings. He is successful in negotiating workouts and defending lender liability claims. Jeff also assists lenders in preparing loan agreements, notes and mortgages, perfecting liens on collateral and all other aspects of proper loan documentation and execution.
Jeff Braegelmann represents farmers and other land owners in public drainage proceedings including petitioning for improvements, repairs, outlets, abandonments and other types of drainage projects. He also represents clients who need to oppose such projects by appealing decisions of drainage authorities regarding improvements, redeterminations of benefits and other drainage matters. Jeff also prepares drainage easements and other agreements to assist landowners with their private drainage and water projects.
Assists landowners who want to establish wetlands and earn credits through the wetlands banking program.
Provides experienced representation to property owners in land and water disputes with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, United States Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources Conservation Service.
