Gislason & Hunter maintains a summer law clerk program for summer associates to join our Mankato and New Ulm offices. We strive to provide “real world” work and show you what it is like to live and practice in Southern Minnesota. You will have an opportunity not just to see the practice of law in action, but also to get to know our attorneys and staff through several planned and impromptu outings. Our summer associates are expected to contribute and assist in reaching our client’s goals while fully taking advantage of the opportunity to shadow and learn the ropes on how to actually practice law.
Paralegals, Legal Administrative Assistants (LAAs), and Administrative Staff
Many of our staff have been with the firm for most of their career. Most started as entry-level LAA or receptionists and were promoted to the position they currently occupy. We rely on our staff to become intimately familiar with our clients’ needs and some clients couldn’t live without the help and support they provide.
Gislason & Hunter values our legal staff as key members of our community. We provide numerous training opportunities from paid-for continuing education to in-house “lunch and learns” designed to provide nuts and bolts training as well as address more complex issues on the law, technology, and other topics.
A full benefits package including a 100% employer-subsidized Medical insurance option, Dental, Vision, 401(k), Profit Sharing, Paid Time Off, and professional development reimbursement.
Culture @ Gislason & Hunter
We’re not a stuffy old law firm–most of our partners are under the age of 45. We are part of the fabric of southern Minnesota, and when you say you work at Gislason & Hunter people will know who you are talking about. We work hard and play hard. For our clients, we work very hard to achieve their reasonable goals efficiently and effectively. Sometimes it means working late or coming into the office early. We serve on many local boards, and know the people in our community. We are sought after for speaking opportunities and to lead organizations. We like to have a good time. Our New Ulm office is known for “early outs” and quarterly socials. Our Mankato office has fairly regular Friday happy hour in our beautiful breakroom overlooking the Minnesota River Valley. Many of our attorneys and staff are friends outside of the office. Most weekends, there will be a group of attorneys playing a round of golf at the Mankato Golf Club or the New Ulm Country Club (or road-tripping to any number of other golf courses around the state).
